Language of Hands is a self-portrait series that explores the hand as a silent, expressive form of communication. Each image captures my own hands in various gestures, ambiguous, open to interpretation, and intentionally removed from facial expression or narrative context. By isolating these gestures, I invite viewers to bring their own experiences and emotions into the reading of each photograph, creating a personal dialogue with the work.

Visually, the series draws inspiration from the dramatic lighting, emotional intensity, and compositional elegance of Baroque and Renaissance art. The aesthetic choice, chiaroscuro, deep shadows, and carefully posed hands, evoke a timeless atmosphere while grounding the work in a contemporary exploration of identity and emotion.
Much of my practice is rooted in self-exploration and self-expression. Choosing to use my own hands was a deliberate decision to create an intimate connection between myself and the work, and to bring emotional depth and vulnerability to each frame. Through these subtle, tactile movements, I express feelings that words often fail to hold: tension, tenderness, strength, fragility, or longing.
This project is a reflection on how the body, even in its smallest parts, can become a language, fluid, powerful, and deeply human.
